Dallas County Considers Residential Cleaning an “Essential” Business.

Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins has issued an order requiring all non-essential businesses to close down Monday at 11:59 pm, March 23rd until 11:59 pm on April due to COVID-19 pandemic. But which businesses are considered essential? It’s clear that healthcare facilities, pharmacies, and grocery stores are while shopping malls, bowling alleys, and hair salons are not. The order states residential “cleaning and maintenance” is an essential business

The order states “Essential Businesses” means “Essential Services Necessary to Maintain Essential Operations of Residences”. This includes “building cleaning and maintenance”. It further states “service providers who provide services that are necessary to maintaining the safety, sanitation…of residences and Essential Businesses.”

The order in it’s entirety can be viewed here.

Similar proclamations and ordinances were issued in other states, (especially California and Nevada) and the CDC guidelines for keeping homes clean and sanitized on a regular basis. Even OSHA issued recommendations for keeping regular housekeeping:

Our professionals cleaners and office staff have been beyond zealous adhering to the Coronavirus and Flu Policies and Procedures we implemented. They know their health and the health of their family depends upon it! To further protect you and your family along with our staff, here is the Client section of Dallas Maids’ safety measures:

  • We will not send a professional home cleaner with symptoms of coronavirus or flu into a client’s home. Re-scheduling to another cleaner on a mutually convenient date will be offered when possible.
  • To protect our employees and other clients, we will not clean homes if anyone in the home is sick or showing flu-like symptoms. Please contact our office by phone of email as soon as possible when cancelling due to illness.
  • Professional home cleaners will wear a mask if requested.
  • Professional home cleaners will be required to sanitize hands before entering the home and wash with soap and water upon entering and departing home.

Thank you for giving us a chance to help! May you and your family stay safe during these times.
